Go on a wildlife safari under Ryde Pier

The shoreline wildlife under Ryde Pier at low tide is found nowhere else on the Island. Every year there is an Under the Pier event hosted by Arc Consulting, which brings together families, the community and local experts to enjoy and explore the colourful sponge gardens, seagrass beds, and abundant anemone fields under Ryde Pier.

Check the website or Facebook for dates. You can also explore on your own, but be very mindful of the tides. We’d recommend going in good weather, and when the low tide is in the middle of the day, to make sure you have enough time. The shore is sandy, not muddy (mostly) but obviously the sea can be dangerous, and there are some holes and jagged bits so take care.
