Geocaching is an international adventure game for GPS (Global Positioning System) users. A cache is something concealed in a location, usually in a public place. The game is to find the cache and, at the same time, explore the Isle of Wight and discover its nature and heritage.
The Isle of Wight is particularly rich in geocaches, with many hundreds to be found, some easy and some very hard. Explore downland, wetlands, woodland, historic parks, nature reserves and fortifications in your quest for the caches. Cache details are uploaded to geocaching.com and can be accessed from this page.
Most modern smartphones will be all you need, and it’s a particularly fun game for young people who are old enough to wander a bit by themselves and use a phone.
